Why You Should Stop Trying to Make the Right Choice (and Make It Right Instead)

It’s better to make my choice right than to waste time trying to make the right choice.

Life is a series of choices—big and small—that accumulate and define who we are. That’s why we obsess over making the “best” decisions, pouring in time, energy, and often, even parts of ourselves.

Looking back, I’ve probably made more decisions—both trivial and life-changing—than most people my age. And through those experiences, I’ve discovered two truths we often overlook:

1. It’s better to make my choice right than to waste time trying to make the right choice.

We often hesitate, analyze, and delay—hoping to find the perfect answer. But life isn’t about discovering the “right” decision. It’s about giving meaning to the one you make.

Instead of waiting for certainty, move. Act. Feel your instincts. Trust them. Pour your best into the choice in front of you, and you’ll often realize that what once felt uncertain becomes exactly what you needed.

You don’t find value in a choice—you create it.

2. The wrong choices shape you more than the right ones ever will.

We spend days, weeks, even months trying to get it “right.” But life isn’t a clean equation—it’s a messy, evolving organism. When we reflect on our past, it’s often the so-called wrong turns that taught us the most.

They hurt, they confused us, they made us pause—and that’s precisely why they mattered. They made us think. And thinking changes people more than perfection ever could.

What we call a “wrong” choice often ends up becoming the most meaningful step forward.

Whatever you choose, let it be yours. Don’t waste energy on doubt. Feel deeply. Act honestly.
And then—make it right.
